Frank Bolden Urban Journalism Workshop | Urban Agenda Newspaper

This gallery is dedicated to the Urban Agenda Newspaper that was put together by the students of the Frank Bolden Urban Journalism Workshop.  I attended this week-long intensive from July 31st to August 5th, 2006.  All three of my articles made it into the newspaper and they are provided below.  I was permitted to temporarily leave the workshop in the middle of the week to attend an event in New York City at Radio City Music Hall called 'An Evening with Harry, Carrie, & Garp', in which J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, and John Irving read from their works in front of 6,000 people.  To learn more about the experience, click on the article below titled 'A Good Read'.  Since I had to be back at the workshop the very next day, my mother and I drove 6 hours to and from New York in the same day.  I typed the article in the car on the way back after the show.  It was an incredible experience and so was this workshop.

*Note:  In the group photo, I am in the second row from the bottom, farthest to the right, in the purple shirt.

*Note on the article 'A good read':  I know full well that J.K. Rowling never wrote a book called "The Death Eaters".  The editor of the paper assumed that Stephen King was talking about a specific book rather than a group of characters in her books, and thus put quotations around the name.  I, however, never wrote it that way.  I apologize in advance for any possible confusion.  Thank you.*
